The presence on the far side of the signal. He records people before he takes them; the tape is Wren's audition.
Appearance
Only ever half-resolved: a man-shaped smear of tracking static at the edge of frame — a cardigan, a microphone, a face the tape refuses to focus. On the oldest footage he is Lyle Aldous, KVHS's late-night host, who walked off-camera in 1994.
